Mixed in with the copious amount of material on manifesting, and persuasion, and meditation, is of course the popular subject of doing what you love, so that the money follows.
When we stop and think about how we would actually turning something we like doing, into an income, thoughts might turn dark and we might aim these darker thoughts at the writer of one of these Express-Your-Passion books.
Maybe even a wish to practically grab the writer by the collar and demand to be told how we can earn a good income by creating custom birdhouses or whatever we passionately enjoy doing. It's only natural to want to know why the writer thinks his/her principles can possibly apply across the board, whether the passion is something like creating computer animations, or the birdhouse.
Here's where I think this wisdom lies. I'm one of those people who believes that everyone has some particular talent, mixed in with their experience, that would equate to value for thousands or millions of people. Deepak said it in 7 Spiritual Laws, but I've always believed this my entire life.
It's easy to point to cases of sad, small, unfulfilled lives of someone just doing "their duty" their entire life to work one single job in order to to support the family and save up for a meaningless retirement - and then using that as an argument to draw a false conclusion that some people just have nothing to offer, except as a clock-puncher.
To me, though, the above case only proves that it's possible to bury a particular gift and never express it. People do it all the time. Unfortunately.
I don't know if you've watched Heroes. Each of these select people all over the planet, U.S., India, Japan, etc.. possess a specific superhuman power.
I'm not about to make that leap and suggest that in the real world, everyone has these powers (but I'll suspend my own opinions, in this particular article). What I am convinced of, is that everyone here has some combination of a talent, desire, way to apply the talent, experience, etc.. that is worth cultivating and using and giving to the world.
My practical suggestion: Start now, by doing something that you enjoy doing, .. something you've noticed that you need less practice to excel at, than would someone else trying the same thing. Notice how happy you are while you're doing it. (You don't have to read Flow by Csikszentmihalyi to find this out, but I recommend it anyway.) Notice how this happiness transcends even looking forward to things like food, a football game, the next time you indulge your bodily passions, or what video to rent next. What the heck is with that? Why is that?
It's because you are creating. And it's more than just using your intellectual brain.
Picture these "spiritual tentacles" that are awoken from your heart area, that rise up and say something like: "Yes, finally ... , create this with me, I want this." It goes beyond doing something that ends up looking cool you can show people.
Okay, here's why I think it's unproductive to struggle with that whole question of: "but how do I make money from this?".
When you open yourself, to what wants to come out, I think it's a heart-opening action that relates to what a lot of those books talk about when they discuss "increasing your vibration". So don't try to intellectually analyze how you will make money from the birdhouses. Just joyfully go about the process of dedicating a particular place for building them, keeping your building supplies replenished, imagining the best birdhouse you could possibly create etc..
And the Avenues for abundance will come, I truly believe. When you're in that kind of Expansive Realm of Being, just the simple actions related to your passion could be what "accidentally", and "indirectly" lead to abundance in the form of synchronicity.
For instance, you're waiting in line at the crafts shop, and you run into someone who wants to "transact with you" in any number of ways that may have nothing to do with the specific channel through with you are allowing your passion to express itself.
Being in that flow I'm describing here, you are radiating an unconditional love for creation. This will attract resources that help you to another goal you have been concentrating on, such as a new car. The person in the line at the crafts store, behind you, could end up being someone who is giving away just that car.
However, moreso, ponder what it would feel like to receive mail orders for your architectural work of art, or ending up on the cover of a craft-making type magazine with your creation.
Doing what you love is the cornerstone of having abundance in your life.
You have to love what you do. Without passion, great success is hard to come by. An entrepreneur will have tough times if he or she isn't passionate about what they're doing. People who love what they're doing don't give up. It's never even a consideration. It's a pretty simple formula.
You give but little when you give of your possessions.
It's when you give of yourself that you truly give.
Follow Your Bliss and the Universe will open doors for you where there were only walls.
PROFITS ARE A BY-PRODUCT.
The bottom line has never been a reason for doing anything. It's much more the satisfaction of creating things that you're proud of and making a difference.
- Richard Branson
When you are present, when your attention is fully in the Now, that Presence will flow into and transform what you do. There will be quality and power in it. You are present when what you are doing is not primarily a means to an end (money, prestige, winning) but fulfilling in itself, when there is joy and aliveness in what you do.
And, of course, you cannot be present unless you become friendly with the present moment. That is the basis for effective action, uncontaminated by negativity.
- Eckhart Tolle
And of course it will usually always come down
to another principle that is all wrapped up in this
and that has to do with being your natural true self,
which in many cases is simply another way of saying
"Follow your joy".
Follow your excitement to the best of your ability
because the sensation that you call joy,
the sensation that you call excitement,
the sensation that you call unconditional love
is the frequency of the energy that represents
your natural true core original self .
So when you are acting
on circumstances and opportunities
that bring with them the highest level of joy
the highest level of excitement
you are saying you have the faith
to take the steps to act upon your true self
and in so doing your physical reality the mirror
will support you
because it has no choice but to do so.
